The Project Sri-Lanka comes up from an idea of the Theravada Master Chen L.B.

The country comes out of several natural disasters and three decades of internal conflict. Its population is mainly composed by theravada followers. The need and the drive to raise again from a nasty reality are strong.

It is fundamental to revitalize the economy of villages in order to enable the population to access to primary goods that currently have prohibitive prices. For this reason the ethnic shop "Vecchio Oriente" has decided to invest resources in the import of wood handicrafts and batiks from local artisans through a direct trade relation, exempt from speculations of every nature, aimed to guarantee continuous work and equal salaries.

The cultural association "Samgha filosofico buddhista Theravada" – the samgha – is intended to sustain in that country the building of a village based on the thought and on the practice of the Theravada philosophy in order to enable those who identify themselves in a life of both material and spiritual growth, grounded on laboriousness and coherence, to have a space where make into practice one's own aspirations. The project foresees housing facilities, an English school, a small medical practice for assistance, craft workshops and farmable land.

We firmly believe that the aim of a life fulfils itself in being, in the first place, of help to oneself and, subsequently, in donating to others so that the energy that comes from the belief and from love can constantly generate beauty and harmony.

Each one of you can be a precious tool for the purposes of this project:
- to convey our intentions to many people means to bring constructive energy, which born from the sharing of a "dream"
- to buy local handicraft means concretely help the population to improve their quality of life.
